Harmonic and discordant colors assignment, November - December 2024

For this assignment we were tasked with making one harmonic piece as well as one discordant piece. I struggled to make a discordant piece and end up making two harmonic-esc pieces. Eventually, I got around to making something actually discordant by throwing many random brushes and filters onto the canvas.

This assignment was interesting for highlighting how hard it is to fully escape some level of harmony in art, because for all of our attempts to make something discordant we tend to still make something appealing to someone. And the reverse could be said too, where it's hard to fully escape discord as it is often what can make a piece more interesting. While I have labelled each of these pieces as harmonic or discordant, they all have some mixture of harmony and discord because above all I wanted to make interesting art.
