Art of Escape from Dice Jail, Software Design project, Spring 2024

Here is a compilation of art I made for one of two three-person game projects in the Spring 2024 semester of college, Escape from Dice Jail! It's a turn-based deckbuilding game where your deck is composed of the faces of a d20, where you play as a D20 die that has been thrown into Dice Jail for rolling poorly just a few too many times.

You can download or play the game in browser here: https://nicholaslobaugh.itch.io/escape-from-dice-jail

I was the sole artist of the team, creating every asset (except for the button sprites, I unfortunately ran out of time to make my own). I was also the main UI designer, arranging assets in the game.

Compared to the other game project that semester, Degrowth, I didn't make as much art for this as it was less necessary and as I was very strapped for time. Still, I'm happy with the few designs I made for this game! I wanted each asset to be a reference to tabletop games in some way, such as the imp enemies being designed as if they were D4 dice that has sprouted arms and legs and mean faces. The big imp was an extension of that, being represented as 2D6 with it's two heads.
