"There is no going back," Drawing I final project, 38" x 50", May 2023

My final project for a drawing I class. This piece is based on the word pairing "internet" and "change", exploring the relation between time, technology, nature, and nostalgia. We had to use mixed media and were limited to only one color to be used sparingly if at all. I primarily used charcoal for the piece and I cut paper and plastic sheets to mimic computer windows, which display cropped images of the main image but from different times. I had a lot of struggles with this piece, but I'm happy with the ideas I portrayed. Who knows, maybe I'll remake this piece and/or revisit these ideas in the future!

Large mixed media drawing of a dead tree in the middle of a cold landscape populated by countless tree stumps, a detached tire swing falling into the foreground. Computer windows overlay parts of the tree, revealing different times and seasons.
